Powder Coating is an advanced yet simple way of spray painting a very fine dry plastic powder paint material as shown above. As a powder paint cloud gently leaves the spray gun, it is charged with static electricity to attract the powder paint to the part being coated . The part is then baked in an oven at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or more. While in the oven, the powder paint melts and flows into a beautiful and durable finish. Primers are not necessary and there are no runs or drips as with wet paint.

There are two basic types of powder, outdoor and indoor. Most outdoor powders are polyester and most indoor powders are epoxy. Powders come in a rainbow of colors with various glosses and textures. Both the epoxy and polyester powder paints will out perform most wet paint finishes. The epoxy finish is the most durable but has one drawback, it will chalk and dull from the ultra-violet rays of the sun but will not lose any of its performance qualities. A gloss finish can be restored with an automotive type polish.
